What is the process when choosing an Awaywiththefaeries made to measure Bridal gown, and what its like to have a dress made just for you.

I’m Nicki, the designer behind the label Awaywiththefaeries and I can design and make whatever you imagine to be your dream dress.I studied Art and Design at university and have a Degree in fashion with textiles.My passion is fabrics and creating one of a kind special occasion dresses.
All design, pattern drafting and construction is made by just me on the Sunshine Coast so your dress isan100% Australian made wedding dress. I make the pattern from your personal body measurements, and ill make sure you have a dress you have always dreamed of.
It takes a little commitment from you as it’s a process from ideas, to design, fabric selection, taking your personal measurements, making a pattern, fittings and finally construction of your gown.Its an exciting process for you.
Here’s the steps you need to know when you have made the commitment,it’s exciting because you get to choose design details and you have a large choice of fabrics to suit your design and to suit the climate/season you will be married.
After an initial complementary chat about the dress of your dreams you need to pay a deposit to start the process.You may choose a fabric from my collection or purchase your own elsewhere.
You need to have a well fitted bra and start shopping for shoes and accessories.
Your personal measurements will be taken and made into a paper pattern, so your 3D body is transferred into 2D! this is measurements not design, so it’s looking rather like a shoulder to hip top. Not so exciting for you but a great base for me to start the design details.
1st fitting: This pattern will be made up into cotton calico for fitting onto your body.Here I can pin and tuckfor a personal fit and then drawer on the style lines in pen, such as depth of neckline, width of strap.
2nd fitting: Next, again in calico, the bodice is made up in your design and checked for fit and adjustments.Now you should have your fabric.
3rd fitting: The pattern is constructed, and the fashion fabric is cut and pieced together. We have a fitting and you can see your dress unfold.
Middle payment is due.
4th fitting: The skirt is drafted and attached to your bodice for another fitting.Now the beading, trims and embellishments are hand applied and the lining is inserted. This is the most exciting stage and only minor details can be adjusted.No more weight adjustments please!
5th fitting: final fitting, how exciting, you can see your gown in all its glory!You need to bring your shoes for this one.The final fitting consists of hemming and zip closure.
Final payment is due.
